Product Architecture

Engineered for Quiet Agency

Five deliberate interaction principles designed to protect cognitive bandwidth and eliminate ambient surveillance.

Pillar 01 · Pre-Meeting Whisper

Arrive prepared without unlocking your phone.

Five minutes before your scheduled calendar event, Orbit delivers a subtle, localized dual-pulse haptic tap. A downward glance shows the primary agenda item and key stakeholders, pre-summarized through AWS Bedrock. A single crescent key press acknowledges readiness.

Pillar 02 · Focus Guardian

Physical boundary against ambient noise.

Press and hold the crescent key to engage a deep work sprint. Orbit broadcasts encrypted local telemetry: smart speakers silence notifications, peripheral displays enter quiet mode, and calendar availability flags as focused.

Local Telemetry Relay Tactile Distraction Logger Autonomous Operation
Pillar 03 · Privacy-Visible Voice

Hardware-enforced microphone privacy.

Zero continuous background audio capture. The microphone is electrically isolated by default. The amber indicator ring is physically tied to the microphone power rail: firmware cannot activate audio capture without illuminating the ring.

Pillar 04 · Deep Work Ledger

An encrypted log of your focus hours.

Record uninterrupted blocks of high-intent focus directly to encrypted on-device storage. No employer tracking dashboards, no manager productivity scores, and no third-party data broker monetization. Your attention remains your private property.

Pillar 05 · Safety Check-in

Quiet reassurance during solo work sessions.

An opt-in motion check-in system for late evening or remote hours. If sudden inactivity or unusual shock signatures occur, Orbit emits a progressive tactile cue asking for confirmation. A single crescent tap confirms safety; unacknowledged events hand off cleanly to paired smartphone SOS.

Functional Hardware Architecture

Reference component specification engineered for 2–4 day battery autonomy, authenticated Bluetooth LE Secure Connections, and hardware privacy isolation.

Technical exploded layer breakdown of AURA Orbit
CAD Architecture v1.4 9 Modular Subsystems

Every internal subsystem is mechanically and electrically bounded to ensure user privacy:

  • Layers 1–2: Protective curved cover glass + transflective MIP display panel.
  • Layers 3–5: Graphite PC/ABS casing, Nordic nRF5340 dual-core PCB, 240 mAh Li-Po pouch.
  • Layers 6–9: LRA vibration actuator, hardware-coupled amber mic circuit, optical window, sealed magnetic pogo dock.

Processing & Connectivity

Primary SoC Nordic nRF5340 dual-core Arm Cortex-M33 (128 MHz app + 64 MHz network)
Radio & Security Bluetooth LE 5.3 Secure Connections, AES-CCM bonding, ECDH P-256 key exchange
Secure Element Hardware Cryptographic Root-of-Trust for device attestation
Antenna System 2.4 GHz custom ceramic antenna with body-decoupling matching network

Power Architecture

PMIC Nordic nPM1300 with integrated buck regulators and ship-mode hibernate
Battery Capacity 240 mAh single-cell Li-Po with PCM thermal protection

Motion Sensing Bosch BMI270 6-axis ultra-low-power IMU for glance wake detection

Architectural Boundaries by Design

To preserve battery autonomy, eliminate ambient surveillance, and maintain distraction-free focus, Orbit intentionally omits:

No Optical Camera Eliminates workplace surveillance concerns and ensures security in confidential meeting rooms.
No Continuous Ambient Listening Audio is captured exclusively during intentional user requests; never continuously recorded in the background.
No Cellular Modem or eSIM Tethering via authenticated Bluetooth LE avoids secondary monthly data plans and parasitic battery drain.
No Third-Party App Store A single-purpose focus instrument designed for cognitive clarity, not an entertainment screen.

Hardware vs Software Privacy

Zero Software Bypass

Conventional voice wearables rely on operating system software flags that can be overridden by background services. AURA Orbit enforces physical decoupling:

Standard Smartwatch
Microphone remains continuously energized in standby
Software controls LED indicator (vulnerable to silent hot-mic exploits)
AURA Orbit Design
Physical load-switch cuts microphone power rail by default
Amber LED is wired in-series with mic power rail. Mic cannot power on without light.
